Background

Euro-Asian Center for Policy Studies and Management (ERUSMA) is a non-profit public interest policy center created in 2005, in Rome, Italy. It has a regional office in Manila, Philippine and a Country office in Dhaka, Bangladesh ERUSMA was conceived by a group of policy institutes and scholars from Asia and Europe to combine euro-asian knowledge, resources and experience to address persistent and emerging socio-economic issues and concerns.

Its perspective is founded on the realization that:

Increase of assistance to the developing world is necessary
Development Cooperation has entered a phase of renewed growth and emphasis with the advent of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and commitments by the OECD and G8 countries to increase assistance to the developing world, particularly Africa
Greater public and private sector synergy is essential for a sustainable development
The private sector is taking a center stage in advocating policies that promote growth and position emerging economies and the developing countries for intensified global competition to lift communities out of poverty and provide improved public services, health care and human dignity.
Agriculture, rural development and equitable market access are key elements to achieve MDGs
The experiences from Asia and other countries have clearly demonstrated that without agricultural and rural development and access to market, sustainable poverty reduction can not be achieve.
