Global Bio-secure Agriculture
Traditionnaly, agriculture development policies have focused largely on creating a conducive environment for adoption of technologies and better practices for increasing production. However, the green revolution technologies and emerging bio-technologies have raised concern for bio-security and food safety. As global food security becomes increasingly dependent on international trade, the potential repercussion of unsafe food have expanded dramatically. This paper presents the need to focus on policies for creating an enable environment and providing incentive for a biosecure agriculture.
